Solvent-borne — This type of paint is made using petrochemical products, particularly the solvent used to thin the paint. These solvents release harmful VOCs (volatile organic compounds) into the atmosphere during the paint application process.
Water-borne — Water-borne paints do not use the petrochemical-based solvents to thin the paint, but are water-based and thus less toxic to the environment. They are no less effective, however, and provide equal protection and performance.
At J. Anthony Designs, we use a water-borne paint system when possible. This helps us to reduce our emissions and keeps us as “green” as possible.
For a solvent-borne paint system we dedicate our Eco-Friendly paint booths to these types of jobs. Our Eco-Friendly booths use an innovative scientific process to filter out 97.88% of harmful VOCs versus the 75%+/- norm in the industry for traditional paint booths.
We don’t just use the best eco-friendly paint around, but we are also committed to reducing the carbon footprint of our body repair shop.
